Winter seasons will see 35 direct international flights to Rovaniemi and Tromsø

Both Easyjet and Norwegian this week announced new direct routes from continental Europe to destinations inside the Arctic Circle.

Norwegian adds two flights a week from Copenhagen to Tromsø, while EasyJet adds several weekly flights to Rovaniemi from Naples, Amsterdam and Paris. From before, the two companies have direct flights to the two Nordic winter destinations from several airports in the United Kingdom.

“Easyjet’s new direct connections will increase Rovaniemi’s route offer to a record 20 international flight routes in the coming season. The development of connections shows the strong suction of Lapland, and travelers can now experience the enchanting northern winter through Rovaniemi even more conveniently,” says Sanna Kärkkäinen, CEO of Visit Rovaniemi.

Rovaniemi airport has announced the arrival of 20 international direct routes for the winter 2023/24, while Tromsø airport in northern Norway gets flights from 15 European cities.

There are additional routes to Kittilä and Ivalo in Finnish Lapland, bringing the total direct flights to inside the Arctic Circle up to an all-time high.

Some of the direct routes to the airports in northern Finland, according to Finavia, include; Liverpool (Ryanair), Dublin (Ryanair), Brussels (Ryanair), London (Ryanair, Easyjet), Milan (Easyjet), Manchester (Easyjet), Bristol (Easyjet), Edinburgh (Easyjet), Luton (Easyjet), Paris (Easyjet), Amsterdam (Easyjet), Naples (Easyjet), and Düsseldorf (Lufthansa).

Newspaper Nordlys in Tromsø has listed the following destinations with direct flights to the town for the upcoming winter: Zürich (Edelweiss), Frankfurt (Lufthansa), München (Lufthansa), Berlin (Eurowings), Hamburg (Eurowings) Düsseldorf (Eurowings), Vienna (Austrian), Paris (Air France), Amsterdam (Transavia), Helsinki (Finnair), Stockholm (SAS), Gdansk (Wizzair), London (Norwegian) and Copenhagen (Norwegian).
