Olivier Truc

Based in Stockholm since 1994, Olivier Truc has been the Nordic and Baltic regional correspondent for Le Monde from 2005 to 2016 and is still writing, with a special interest for the Arctic issues over the past 15 years.

He also produces television documentaries. “The Reindeer Police”, portrays a group of Norwegian policemen who belong to a special unit tasked with preventing conflicts connected to reindeer herding in Lapland.

Olivier has also written several non-fiction books and novels.

His first novel has been published in French by Métailié in September 2012 (published in UK/US in 2014). «Forty Days Without Shadow» is a thriller steeped in Sami and Nordic culture, figuring two officers in the local Reindeer Police. This novel has won 25 awards and has been translated into more than 20 languages. He has written two other crime novels in the same series («The Wolf Strait» and «The red mountain», not translated yet).

His first historical novel, “The Cartographer of the Boreal Indies”, has been published by Métailié in Mars 2019.
