Céline Clanet

Céline is a French freelance photographer based in Paris. She has been working for over 15 years on the European Arctic region - known as Lapland - its territory and people. Her “Máze” series, which depicts the life and territory of a reindeer herding community of Norwegian Lapland, was awarded with the “Critical Mass Book Award” and the “International Photography “People-Culture” Award (USA).

Her last photo project, “Kola”, for which she received the “Bourse pour la Photographie Documentaire” from the Centre National pour les Arts Plastiques (France) investigates the Kola Peninsula in Russia and shows an arctic territory shared between military, industrial and indigenous concerns. It was recently published as a monograph by Editions Loco, France.

Her photographic work, which deals with the complex bonds between people and their territory, is part of several public and private collections.

Céline published 6 monographs, and her work has been internationally exhibited in venues such as the Swedish Institute in Paris, the Portland Art Museum, the BOZAR/Centre for Fine Arts in Brussels, the EDF Foundation in Paris, the Peri Photographic Center in Finland, the Northern Photographic Center in Finland. 

Her photographs have been published in The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, National Geographic Traveler, The Independent, The Daily Telegraph, Libération, Le Monde, Slate, Esquire Russia, Corriere della Sera, Il Post, Le Soir, Katalog, Mare, Telerama, among others.
