700K Ukrainian children “received” by Russia since the invasion, Russian official report.

“Since February 2022, the Russian Federation has received about 4,8 million residents of Ukraine and the Donbas republics (of Donetsk and Luhansk), more than 700,000 of them are children,”

the report published by Russia’s Presidential Commissioner for Children’s Rights on July 30 reads.  

Earlier in March 2023 International Criminal Court (ICC) issued an arrest warrant for Russian President Putin and for Russia’s Commissioner for Children’s Rights Maria Alekseyevna Lvova-Belova. 

The (ICC) arrest warrant states that Ms Lvova-Belova and President Putin are:

“…allegedly responsible for the war crime of unlawful deportation of population (children) and that of unlawful transfer of population (children) from occupied areas of Ukraine to the Russian Federation…”

Earlier in January 2023 the Murmansk Governor Andrei Chibis has also been included in the Norwegian sanctions list in January 2023 after his involvement in the transfer of children:

“The ones that have committed war crimes and other abuses must be put to justice,” Norways Foreign Minister Huitfeldt explained the sanctions.

Mr Chibis, as the EU Council decision reads, is “involved in the illegal transportation of Ukrainian children to Russia and their adoption by Russian families” and his actions “violate the rights of Ukrainian children and infringe Ukrainian law and administrative order.”
